MRE Morocco Route AP-7 Police Checks Overloaded Vehicles
Motorists heading to Morocco must monitor their vehicle’s weight and condition. On the AP-7, Catalan police are intensifying checks against overloading and dangerous cargo during the Strait Crossing Operation.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have reinforced their presence on the AP-7, one of the main routes used by MREs crossing Spain toward Morocco. The checks will continue throughout the weekend, with particular attention paid to heavily loaded cars and vans.

Police officers verify vehicle weight, as well as how luggage and goods are secured. Tire condition, seat belt use in front and rear seats, child safety seats, and transport documents and permits are also checked.
Surveillance is not limited to roadblocks. The Mossos have deployed mobile checks, teams at service areas, and a helicopter to monitor traffic. A [video notably shows the inspection of a heavily loaded van heading toward Morocco.
The initial provisional report shows four violations for excess weight and three others related to transport regulations. Twenty-one people were also fined for not wearing seat belts or using child restraint devices. A coach was immobilized due to lack of authorization.
