Real Madrid ultras burn a portrait of Mohammed VI near the Bernabéu
Members of Ultras Sur burned a portrait of King Mohammed VI, as well as a Moroccan flag and a depiction of Pedro Sánchez, on Tuesday evening near the Santiago Bernabéu, before the Real Madrid–Inter Milan match.
The scene appears in a video broadcast on Wednesday, September 9, by Hooligans.cz. It shows several portraits and symbols set on fire by the Madrid ultras, including that of the Moroccan sovereign.
The action is presented by the specialized media outlet as a demonstration of support for Sebta, amid strong political tensions between Morocco and Spain.
Mohammed VI directly targeted
The presence of Mohammed VI’s portrait gives the sequence particular significance. The ultras did not merely burn a Moroccan flag: they directly targeted the image of the king, at the same time as that of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
