Saudi Arabia sells nearly nine times more to Morocco than it buys from it
Trade between Morocco and Saudi Arabia remains highly unbalanced. In 2025, Riyadh sold 5.7 billion riyals’ worth of goods to the Kingdom, but bought only 658.6 million riyals’ worth of merchandise from it.
The figures published by the official DataSaudi platform of the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning show a surplus of more than 5 billion riyals in favor of Saudi Arabia.
In concrete terms, for every riyal spent on Moroccan products, Saudi Arabia sold approximately 8.7 riyals’ worth of goods to Morocco. This imbalance is mainly explained by the composition of Moroccan purchases.

Mineral fuels, oils and waxes account for 2.7 billion riyals. They are followed by plastics and articles thereof, with 1.4 billion, then inorganic chemical products, at 904.3 million riyals. These three categories account for nearly 88% of Saudi exports to Morocco.
Clothing and fruit dominate Moroccan sales
In the opposite direction, Moroccan exports to Saudi Arabia reached 658.6 million riyals in 2025, up 4.4% year on year.
Non-knitted clothing came first, with 153.4 million riyals, ahead of fruit and citrus fruits, which accounted for 143.4 million. Knitted or crocheted clothing completed the podium with 97.1 million riyals. Together, these three groups make up nearly 60% of Saudi purchases from Morocco.
The contrast is therefore stark: Morocco mainly sells agricultural and textile products, while it buys energy and industrial raw materials from Saudi Arabia. A structure that contributes more broadly to the weight of imports in Moroccan foreign trade.
The latest data nevertheless show a less pronounced gap. In April 2026, Saudi exports to Morocco amounted to 175.7 million riyals, compared with 73.7 million in purchases of Moroccan products. Riyadh thus sold 2.4 times more than it bought during that single month, for a surplus of 102 million riyals.

The imbalance therefore remains significant, but the monthly figures suggest that it can vary considerably depending on energy deliveries. The challenge for Morocco remains to expand its sales to the Saudi market beyond clothing and agricultural products.
