Tourism: Morocco at the top of the world
Morocco ranks 13th in the UN World Tourism Organization’s global ranking of the best destinations in terms of international growth, and first in Africa and the Middle East, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy announced.
Morocco is among the best destinations on most international lists and rankings for 2025-2026. In addition to the UN World Tourism Organization’s global ranking, Morocco was elected "Destination of the Year" at the 2025 Travel Awards in Brussels, confirming its status as a must-visit tourist destination on the international scene.
In October and November 2025, the city of Marrakech ranked third in "The 7 Best Winter Sun Holiday Destinations", the global list of winter destination trends for 2026, by the British newspaper The Independent. The city of Fez, the cultural capital of the kingdom, is also featured in several African and international rankings, including "The Top Must-See Destinations for 2026" by Travel and Tour World, where it is ranked 6th, according to Challenge.
As for the city of Taghazout, it was ranked 2nd among "The 6 Best Places to Surf in November" by Surfer magazine. Morocco also ranks highly on the "Best Places in the World to Travel to in 2026" list by National Geographic.
