The highway connecting Fès to Oujda presents particular geological constraints. The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, acknowledged this on Monday before the House of Representatives, in response to a question about fatal accidents recorded on this route.

According to studies conducted, this section crosses zones composed of transformed argillaceous rocks. This configuration causes soil instability and requires regular interventions to maintain the infrastructure in working order.
The minister explained that this situation requires the competent services to carry out maintenance work on a continuous basis. The objective is to guarantee the use of the highway under acceptable safety conditions.
Nizar Baraka also assured that the teams responsible for maintenance ensure that necessary signage is put in place during work and that measures are taken to protect users, according to the Ministry of Equipment and Water.
