Morocco maintains an important place in trips departing from Belgium. In June 2026, it was still among the ten most popular destinations from Brussels Airport, alongside Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Turkey, Portugal, France, the United States and Switzerland.

This presence confirms the strength of connections between Belgium and Morocco, during peak summer travel and trips by MREs to the kingdom.

According to Belga, Brussels Airport welcomed 11,684,976 passengers during the first six months of 2026, an increase of 3.6% compared to the first half of 2025.

Morocco in the top 10

This growth occurred despite several disruptions. Two national union action days, in March and May, affected approximately 55,000 passengers. A spontaneous strike by air traffic controller skeyes on June 2 also led to the cancellation of scheduled flights that day, affecting 25,000 travelers.

For June alone, Brussels Airport recorded 2,215,965 passengers, up 1.7% year-over-year. The share of connecting passengers reached 15%, mainly towards Europe, Africa and North America.

Cargo activity is also on the rise. Nearly 420,000 tonnes of goods were handled in the first half, representing an increase of 8.3%. In June, freight increased by 12.2%, to 70,895 tonnes.
