Morocco US Military Bases 2027 Pentagon Plans
A bill examined by the US Senate asks the Pentagon to study the creation of new security sites in Morocco. These installations would serve to strengthen joint preparation and the capacity to respond to regional crises.
The measure appears in the Senate version of the American defense budget for 2027. It does not yet provide for the opening of American military bases, but requires the development of options for establishing "cooperative security sites" on Moroccan territory.

According to the bill published by the American government, the Secretary of Defense should present to Congress, within 180 days following a possible enactment, a plan intended to deepen military cooperation with Rabat. This roadmap must be part of the Morocco-United States defense partnership planned for the period 2026-2036.
Old American airfields in the crosshairs
The text also requests an evaluation of the possibility of sharing the costs of renovating airfields formerly used in Morocco by the American Strategic Air Command. Their location and the scope of the planned work are not specified.
Washington also wants to study the creation of a vast multidomain training complex and continue the modernization of the Royal Armed Forces through the acquisition of American military equipment. The project also provides for a center of excellence dedicated to drones.

Exercises such as African Lion could finally be expanded to cybersecurity, drone operations and counter-drone operations, underwater technologies, hybrid warfare and military capabilities using artificial intelligence. These directions remain, however, subject to the final adoption of the text by Congress and its enactment.
