This operation comes after the accident that claimed the life of Yasmin, a 13-year-old girl living in the Mechelen region of Belgium. On holiday in Morocco with her family, she had accepted a short ride on a quad driven by a young man she met near the beach.
The vehicle veered off course before plunging from a cliff in the Jorf Erroum coastal area. The teenager succumbed to her injuries, while the driver was hospitalized in serious condition.
Nador cracks down on illegal quad rentals
Initial investigations reportedly identified the person suspected of renting the quad outside regulations. This person allegedly left the region immediately after the accident and remains wanted.
The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, must determine responsibilities related to the vehicle rental and verify whether a potentially dangerous machine was entrusted to minors without sufficient oversight.
The tragedy calls into question the organization of quad rentals on certain Nador beaches, where these vehicles sometimes circulate near cliffs without supervision, protective equipment, or age verification of users.
