For a month, his family has been searching for this MRE who disappeared in Tangier… but perhaps in the wrong place
Nearly a month after his disappearance in Tangier, Ouadoud Rabbaj remains missing. His family is now considering a new possibility: the 22-year-old MRE may have been mistaken for a homeless person and moved out of the city.
Ouadoud disappeared on July 19 in Tangier, where he was spending his vacation with his parents. Since then, his relatives have intensified their searches in the streets, hospitals and various establishments that may have taken him in, without finding any decisive lead.

His sister Hamida now believes that he may have been taken to another city after being mistaken for a homeless person. She told NOS that she had learned that homeless people could be removed from the streets of Tangier and moved elsewhere.
No official information confirms that this happened to Ouadoud. But this possibility has upended the search. “Morocco is incredibly large—where do we start?” his sister wonders, as she considers returning there to continue the search herself.
His family no longer knows where to search
The young man’s medical condition makes his disappearance particularly worrying. Following an accident, Ouadoud suffers, among other things, from partial paralysis and uses a urinary catheter. He speaks darija with difficulty and is heavily dependent on his relatives.
His mother is still in Morocco with two of her sons. Hamida describes a family exhausted by weeks of fruitless searching.
The relatives are also becoming increasingly critical of the investigations conducted in Morocco. Hamida says she has lost some of her trust in the police, believing that more could be done.
The family also contacted the Dutch consulate. It reportedly indicated that the search did not fall directly within its remit, while promising to contact the Moroccan police. The relatives say they have received no follow-up since.
