Good news for Moroccans with a savings account

The minimum rate paid on savings accounts in Morocco will increase in the second half of 2026. It will rise from 1.61% to 1.82%, according to the latest indicators from Bank Al-Maghrib.

The increase amounts to 21 basis points compared with the first half of the year. On savings of 100,000 dirhams held for one year, the theoretical gross return thus rises from 1,610 to 1,820 dirhams, representing an additional 210 dirhams.

Term deposits also rise

The rates applied to bank deposits also increased in June. The average return on six-month investments rose from 2.16% in May to 2.51%, while that on twelve-month deposits increased from 2.60% to 2.77%.
