Euro strengthens dirham MRE summer transfers Morocco
The euro has slightly gained against the Moroccan dirham as the major summer returns approach. The movement remains limited, but it works in favor of Moroccans abroad who exchange or transfer money to Morocco.
According to Bank Al-Maghrib’s weekly indicators, the dirham depreciated by 0.4% against the euro between June 25 and July 1, 2026. Over the same period, it appreciated by 0.1% against the US dollar.

In detail, the euro’s reference rate rose from 10.689 dirhams on June 25 to 10.709 dirhams on July 1. It had reached 10.714 dirhams on June 30, its highest level for the period.
For Moroccans abroad, the effect is modest but favorable. An exchange of 1,000 euros gave approximately 10,689 dirhams on June 25, compared to 10,709 dirhams on July 1, a gain of about twenty dirhams.
This development comes at the beginning of the summer period, when many Moroccans living in Europe prepare their departure to Morocco or transfer money to their families.

Bank Al-Maghrib notes that no auction operations were conducted on the foreign exchange market during this period. Official reserve assets stood at 495.8 billion dirhams on June 26, up 23.4% year-on-year.
